What is the UIF
The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) is a government program established to provide financial relief to workers who find themselves temporarily unemployed or unable to work. It is primarily designed to protect employees in the event of unemployment, illness, maternity, or adoption leave.
Commercial Employers
- Applicable to a business with one or more employees, working for more than 24 hours per month.
- Employer to register the employee with the Department of Labour, and contribute monthly towards the UIF
Domestic Employers
- Applicable to any home-based employed person working for more than 24 hours per month,
- Employer to register the employee with the Department of Labour, and contribute monthly towards the UIF.
Employee eligibility to claim from the UIF;
- Monthly contributions to the UIF;
- Application for benefits by completing the prescribed form at the employment office;
- Application within the prescribed time period;
- Submits the required information (such as, his/her identity document, details of bank account and/or certificate of service); and

- Complies with the requirements set by the UIF.
An employee may not claim from the UIF if s/he:
- Does not comply with the law relating to unemployment
- Has resigned, absconded or
- Has no 13 digit South African Identity Document
- Is suspended from receiving a benefit, for example, s/he has made a dishonest benefit claim.

Disclaimer / Terms:
- Please note that we are a private UIF company, not the Department of Labour.
- It is the responsibility of the Client to submit a signed Mandate/ Power of Attorney provided on the Tsiane Executive Solutions letterhead, prior service.
- The Client has to submit a signed POPIA consent form provided by Tsiane Executive Solutions prior any service
- A 70% deposit fee is applicable for any work to commence.
- Full payment must be made on all outstanding Invoices before any further work may be administered on behalf of the client
